About Gilded Age

Created in 1998, St. Louis-based Gilded Age has grown to become one of the largest real estate development companies in St. Louis and the state of Missouri.  Since its inception, the company has ensured that community development, historical preservation and urban development remain the paramount focus for each of its projects.

Gilded Age was created to restore and revitalize the grandeur of the Lafayette Square area—one of St. Louis’ oldest and most historically-significant neighborhoods—and continue this commitment today. Presently, Gilded Age has projects in various stages of development, including over 200 townhouses, condominiums and commercial spaces available for occupancy.

Gilded Age is strategically aligned with the Lawrence Group architects and BSI Constructors, two St. Louis companies well-known for their innovative designs and construction expertise, respectively.  This formidable partnership enables Gilded Age to provide owners with exclusively-designed living environments - featuring “new world” amenities with “old world” charm - built to the highest quality by the city’s finest craftsmen.

Visit a Gilded Age property today and experience turn-of-the-century style and begin writing your history in St. Louis’ most historic neighborhood.

Chris Goodson
Principal

Chris Goodson is Principal of Gilded Age. He brings over 20 years of civic, entrepreneurial and political experience along with a passion to preserve the city’s rich architectural past.  Chris is a native St. Louisan and has lived in Lafayette Square with his family since 1993.

After moving to the neighborhood, Chris immediately joined the LSRC and became President to create the organization’s housing corporation that tackled remaining problem properties. He currently serves as President of the Near-Southside Improvement Corporation, which is a public/private partnership that directs the funding of public improvement initiatives in Lafayette Square.

Beyond his work in the Lafayette Square district, Chris has served on many civic committees. In 2004 Goodson was appointed President of the Board of Police Commissioners by Governor Matt Blunt and served on the Governor’s Eminent Domain Commission.  Additionally, he serves on the City of St. Louis’ Planned Industrial Expansion Authority, which implements incentives for industrial development projects.

Prior to forming Gilded Age, Chris created The Goodson Company in 1992, a promotional product company, and continues to oversee the company’s operations. Goodson received his MBA in 1992 from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. In 2007 Chris was selected as a recipient of the St. Louis Business Journal's "40 Under 40" Award, an annual nomination award to top influential civic and business leaders in St. Louis.
